Dr. Matthew Peters

Respiratory Physician

Dr. Matthew Peters’ drive to work in the lung cancer space is personal. As he was growing up, two of his friend’s fathers lost their lives to lung cancer at a young age. This sparked his passion to specialise in lung cancer, a passion he still holds to this day.

For Matthew, stigma means those with lung cancer are missing out on vital support, support they deserve.

Stigma and futility drive unfairness in resource allocation and we need to face up to that.

Lung Foundation Australia needs your support to change the landscape of lung cancer by funding for research and better treatment options, and campaigning against the stigma that acts as a barrier to action.
